Here is a stress free checklist for those wishing to travel to France for a visit.

Decide the length of your trip
Depending on your budget and time you can determine how long you can stay in France. For Paris you will need at least 150 Euros (Ksh 15,000) par day, food and  hotel included

Get your visa
For those in Europe  they do not require a visa but if you are traveling from Kenya and other countries you should have a Schengen Visa.
To get your visa start by visiting the French embassy in Kenya website https://ke.ambafrance.org to get the documents required.

Get an an ATM card that can be used abroad

The main steps in applying for a visa

Complete your application online

Once you have confirmed that you need a visa, you can complete your application on our online portal. You will be asked to create a France-Visas account, which you will need for each step of the process.

Submit your application to the visa centre

Once you have completed your online application, all you have to do is submit it to your local visa centre. France-Visas will provide you with all necessary information on how and where to submit your application.

Track your visa application

Once your application has been submitted, track its progress and see how and when you can collect your passport and how to prepare for your trip to France.

You can drive in France with your Kenyan driving licence on conditions that:

• Your licence is valid
• You have a translation of your licence in French

Here are some regulations to be aware when driving in France :

• ALCOHOL LIMIT: For people that have less than three years of experience, the alcohol limit is 0.2 grams per litre. For experienced drivers and motorcyclists (more than three years’ experience) the limit is 0.5 grams per litre. Both are lower than the UK limit of 0.8 grams per litre.
• HEADPHONES LAW: All drivers and riders have been prohibited from wearing headsets and headphones whilst driving, be it for music purposes or for phone calls. However, this does exclude motorcycle helmets that have integrated systems.
• REFLECTIVE JACKETS: As of January 2016, motorcyclists are required to have reflective jackets to be worn in the event of a breakdown or an emergency.
• CLEAN AIR STICKER: You now need a Crit’Air sticker displayed on your car when travelling to certain cities. It costs €3.63 and drivers face an on-the-spot fine of almost €120 if they don’t have one.
• SPEED LIMITS: The speed limit on many A and B roads in France is 80 km/h.

Eiffel Tower
The tower is 324 metres (1,063 ft) tall, about the same height as an 81-storey building, and the tallest structure in Paris.
Constructed from 1887–1889 by Gustave Eiffel to commemorate the centenary of the French Revolution, it is one of the most visited monuments in the world with nearly 7 million visitors a year.

Champs Elysées / Arc of Triumph
1.9 kilometres long and 70 metres wide, running between the Place de la Concorde and the Place Charles de Gaulle, where the Arc de Triomphe is located. It is known for its theatres, cafés, and luxury shops, for the annual Bastille Day military parade, and as the finish of the Tour de France cycle race.
Under the Arc de Triomphe is the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier of France.

Notre Dame Cathedral
Notre Dame is a Roman Catholic cathedral located on the eastern half of the Ile de la Cité. It is widely considered one of the finest examples of French Gothic architecture in France and Europe. Its construction begun in 1163 and completed in 1345, this cathedral is a sight with its portals surrounded by his many sculptures and gargoyles that adorn the roof.

Louvre Museum
The Louvre Museum, is the world’s largest art museum and a historic monument in Paris, France. Located in the heart of Paris, this historic building is a former royal palace, with an area of 210,000 square meters including 60,600 for the exhibitions.

Montmartre
Montmartre is a hill located in the north of Paris, 130 meters high, having its name to the surrounding neighborhood. It is best known for the white-domed Basilica of the Sacred Heart, at the top. It was completed in 1919 and honors the French victims of the Franco-Prussian war of 1870.

Moulin Rouge
The Moulin Rouge is a cabaret known as the spiritual birthplace of the famous French Cancan. Located at the foot of Montmartre hill in the heart of Pigalle, it was built in 1889 by Joseph Oller and Charles Zidler. Initially introduced as a courtship dance, the cancan made possible the birth of the cabaret, now present in many countries around the world. Today, the Moulin Rouge is a tourist attraction, providing entertainment for visitors from around the world.

Disneyland Paris
A fan of Walt Disney World will not miss the chance to go to Disneyland while in Paris.
Disneyland Paris has two theme parks: Disneyland (with Sleeping Beauty’s castle) and Walt Disney Studios. Top attractions are Space Mountain, It’s a Small World and Big Thunder Mountain.
